Our Story

It started with a brown paper bag
Years ago, in my friend Margaret Woolley's home in Auckland, New Zealand, I stopped in front of a pair of ornate, carved, very French mirrors and asked where on earth she had found them.
"I made them, dear," she said — and disappeared, coming back with a brown paper bag full of cut-up moldings that bent in my hands. "I made them out of these."
That was the moment. I've been in love with Efex ever since.
History you can bend
For more than forty years, Efex has been made by hand from a proprietary formula that does what no other molding does: it bends — around curves, corners and legs, with no steam, heat or clamps. A little contact cement holds it in place, and it takes paint, stain or gilt beautifully.
Every design begins with a real historic original, found in places like Chatsworth House, the Palace of Versailles and little antique shops on our travels. We remaster each one and pour it by hand, here in Maine.
It's your home. Make it chic. Make it unique.
